Sounders Practice Notes [05-22-18]

A beautiful day out at Starfire, as the team got back on the practice field after having the last couple of days off. It was a fairly intense practice, though it focused mostly on fitness and the like.

The best news team-wise is that Will Bruin made his way back out to practice and was doing some light training. No way of knowing how far he is along, but maybe that “minor miracle” that Brian Schmetzer talked about can still happen.

Otherwise, both Ozzie Alonso and Victor Rodriguez continue to make progress. Coach Schmetzer seemed pleased with the progress of Victor in particular, and he looked to be doing much more in training. Hopefully, he is getting closer to a return.

Beyond that, it was a fairly uneventful practice, which is probably just how everyone likes it at the moment. Post practice, Stephan Frei talked a bit about the Real Salt Lake game upcoming and his counterpart Nick Rimando, who still gives me nightmares. Coach Schmetzer will be getting into the tactics of the game with the team later this week, and was pleased with the ability of Lamar Neagle, Waylon Francis and Harry Shipp to get game action with Sounders 2 last weekend.

No other injury updates/issues; the team that was out at practice is the team we’ll see going forward.
