A relatively short practice today, as the team returns from a couple of days off. Nonetheless, there were a couple of newsy notes from training.
First, both Will Bruin and Victor Rodriguez were both out here for the start of practice and involved in training. Victor left a bit earlier Bruin, but Coach Schmetzer sounded optimistic that both could possibly be involved in the game versus Real Salt Lake at the weekend, DEPENDING on how they get through training this week. So no guarantees.
The news wasn’t so good for Handwalla Bwana, who was not out here today. Schmetzer confirmed he’ll be getting an MRI this afternoon, but tough to see him involved this weekend. Ozzie Alonso is also further out from returning than both Bruin and Rodriguez.
Beyond that, a pretty light affair today. Schmetzer clarified his comments from this weekend about “challenging” the team. He noted under the circumstances that things are a bit tough right now. Obviously, getting some additional healthy bodies would be a big help, so hopefully Bruin and Rodriguez will be back in some form this weekend. Watch this space.
