Sounders Practice Notes [07-02-18]: Returns

It was a light practice today, as everyone who started against Portland on Saturday trained inside. However, that doesn’t mean there wasn’t any news of interest. The most important sighting was the return of three injured players to training.

Stephan Frei, Kelvin Leerdam and Felix Chenkam all were involved in training this morning. All three appeared to get through the session with no issues. Brian Schmetzer was also inside today, so there wasn’t the chance to ask him about the status of the players. Schmetzer will be available tomorrow, and will surely give us an update. Having all three available for the mid-week game versus Colorado would be a huge boost, as it would obviously increase the options available, given a player or two who started Saturday may be unlikely to start again on Wednesday, especially with a game at the weekend in New England as well.

The daunting prospect of a three-game road trip over the next two weeks was not lost on Harry Shipp, though he remained optimistic the team could get a couple of results to put them back in position to fight for the playoffs. Having Frei and Leerdam back would surely provide some reason for confidence.
